Showcase

Students at Modern Minds are continually engaged in problem based learning challenges, service learning projects, extracurricular activities, and personal self expression. Our goal with Showcase focuses on Sharing with the World, and engaging the community and other private schools with exemplary work completed by students.

City Engineers tasked students with an enormous challenge facing the entire world; given the depletion of natural resources and continued population growth, how do we design cities of the future to balance the needs of people and sustainability? Students researched basic city engineering, designed a city with as many basic services as possible, and added their personal touch to make the city exciting and inviting to anyone with a desire to live there!

Adding to the challenge, the majority of their cities had to be designed using recyclables found in our homes!

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE

FIRST LEGO League is an international competition where student's combine robotics and coding with real world problem solving and core values. All students at Modern Minds enjoy participating at the school level in FIRST LEGO League (FLL), and have the opportunity to try out for our competitive FLL teams. With our amazing coaches and support from families, our teams have performed at a high level every year, even winning a state championship.

FLL enables our students a hands on learning experience that promotes STEM skills and collaboration with their peers.

Conservation Around the World

IMG_0232.jpeg

Each year we choose a school theme that integrates Conservation and STEM, as well as focusing on the world around us. This year, in honor of the Summer Olympics, we chose to study different countries around the world, with a focus on the conservation efforts in each country, as well as their integration of STEM into every day life. Students researched each country, learned about their cultures, heroes, history, and way of life

Our project culminated with students choosing a notable component of their country and decorating rooms to display what they learned.
